Standard Features

Included with every Yurta

Handcrafted Frame

White ash is hand machined and oiled to a strength and beauty you won’t find elsewhere. Our structure is dramatically reduced because of our choice of materials and design. The elegant frame sacrifices no strength, and is a piece of furniture you can own for a lifetime.

Operable Dome

A dome 4’ in diameter, framed in a perfect circular compression ring and completely unobstructed. Our large operable dome efficiently vents the yurt and gives light, connecting you to the sky above.

Huge Windows

Our windows are multi-function and all season. Nearly 4’x4’, they provide a beautiful view of your surroundings. Every yurt has at least three.

Breathable, Weatherproof Outer Shell

Yurta covers are sewn to exceedingly tight tolerances. They are also breathable so moisture always has an opportunity to dry out.

Metal Rain Diverter

Powder-coated and slotted onto the door, it limits the rain runoff over your entry and helps direct water away from the walls.

Storm Anchors

For 100+ km/h winds, storm anchors secure your yurt for the harshest conditions nature can throw at it.

Wind Straps

A hidden strap system integrated into the cover that secures the cover to the frame at fourteen or eighteen points.

Solid Cedar Door

Made of knot-free, furniture grade red and white cedar. Oiled and equipped with a stainless hinges and a stainless steel locket. Our doors are so beautiful they’ll make your house doors jealous.

Floor Plans

Plans that allow you to build your own round, structural, insulated floor.

Make your Yurta uniquely yours

Made especially for us, our insulation brings together 100% wool felt and a radiant layer. This combined radiant and thermal capability makes our wool felt the ultimate lightweight insulation that is breathable, natural and non-toxic suitable for cold winter climates.

Our wool felt makes a beautiful and warm finish for your yurt space. It provides benefits in both cold and warm seasons. It makes a micro-climate in your yurt possible!

Yurta 17 includes three standard windows. Add as many as four additional windows for a total of seven maximum windows.

Yurta 21 includes four standard windows. Add as many as five additional windows for a total of nine maximum windows.

Each window includes a hard edged awning which doubles as a storm flap. Each window includes built-in wool felt insulation, and a removable clear cover for cold weather.

We offer a galvanized chimney cone as a pass-through for a stove pipe. It is meant to be fitted to the roof, and does not provide structural support to the stove pipe. Holes are not pre-cut – they are cut onsite to match the clearance requirements of each individual appliance.

One of the chief advantages a yurt offers is minimal footprint.

A deck is a practical addition to your yurt project because it provides a level surface from which to fully access your shelter for maximum use and care. Any deck is suitable, as long as it is at least about one foot bigger than the yurt you install.

Plans to build a structural round floor are included with every yurt. Building it this way combines deck and floor in one.

INSULFLOOR

We offer an optional slotted, insulated floor made of custom SIP panels. Nineteen insulated panels use a tongue and groove system to slot together. Made of birch plywood, they are unfinished for use as subfloor though its minimal grain makes it ideal for staining when used as a finished surface. This floor is not structural and requires a level deck for support.

OCTOPAD DECK

The Octopad is a floating deck kit with necessary hardware and plans. Users add the lumber to make a free-standing, portable and self-leveling deck that is designed to sit directly on the soil. It requires no poured foundations and minimal site preparation. Eight triangular modules are built and installed or dismantled in about 2 hours with the included proprietary bracket mount and screw jacks. Each module is individually leveled on uneven terrain while it is installed requiring no effort to level a deck frame first. Later, if soil should heave or give in any location, one or more of the Octopad’s screw jacks can be adjusted up or down to return to a level surface in minutes.

Placing a Yurta or platform directly on the surface this way allows the ground to recover quickly and leave virtually no trace. This makes the Octopad particularly valuable for setups that will be moved again after setup.
