Freight costs depend on where your yurt is going, and we quote it before you order. Freight, duties and customs clearing are additional.
Your platform and any site work are separate. Once your order is confirmed, the price of your yurt and options is fixed.
Payment and Financing
A 30% deposit confirms your order. The balance is due before your yurt ships, or when you pick it up. We won’t take a deposit until we’ve talked through the yurt and the order form with you, so talk to us to start.
Want to spread the cost of your yurt? Personal financing is available through iFinance Canada. Qualified businesses apply for commercial financing through Canadian Financial. Each lender qualifies borrowers and sets its own terms.
Room to Live, Gather and Host
Once your large luxury yurt is up, the exposed white ash frame, the cedar door and daylight from the skylight and up to nine windows give the room its character. There’s no drywall to install, no interior to paint. There isn’t even a fabric liner to hang.
Family and Group Retreats
Bring everyone. There’s room for beds, a sitting area and a wood stove (add the chimney outlet), so the whole group ends the day together in one big, bright room.
A Studio or Gathering Space
A yoga class. A painting studio. A team that needs a day away from the office. The open, round floor gives a group room to spread out.
Longer Stays
Spending a season on your land, or longer? It’s designed for semi-permanent living. For warmth through the cold months, add the insulation package and a heat source.
Guest Space for Glamping and Rentals
Hosting families or groups? The Yurta 21 gives guests room to sleep, gather and relax. Add the wool felt insulation package and a suitable heat source for more comfort in colder weather. Yurta owners rent their yurts to guests, and commercial financing is available for a qualified glamping business.
Setting up several sites? Look at the Yurta 17 too. It weighs about a third as much, and two people put it up in about 2 hours.

Built as a 4-Season Yurt
Every Yurta is a 4-season yurt. The structure is tested to carry a snow load and endure 100+ km/h winds. Insulation adds thermal and radiant capacity for year-round comfort. With a stove or similar heat source, the 100% wool felt package can be effectively heated to −30°C and colder.
A Cover That Breathes
Roof and walls are acrylic-coated polyester, and the entire shell is breathable – including the insulation layer – so moisture always has an opportunity to dry out. There’s no vinyl in a Yurta. A metal rain diverter is standard, and the windows include removable clear Lexan inserts for cold weather. Open the 4 foot dome to vent the yurt from multiple angles and increments.
The Wool Felt Insulation Package
The insulation package lines your Yurta 21 with 100% felted sheep’s wool with a radiant backing. The felt is needled to the radiant backing, and is only available from Yurta. Planning a wood stove? Add the chimney outlet.
Used by our clients as far north as the Arctic circle, its radiant layer is also beneficial in warmer climes because it reflects some of the sun’s radiant heat out of the yurt. Felted sheep’s wool adds thermal envelope that aids in natural convection and heat-exhaust.

Yurta 21 Setup and Delivery
Almost every Yurta is deployed by its owner. The Yurta 21 yurt asks a bit more of you than the Yurta 17, because it’s heavier and some assembly must happen on site. You’ll arrange a level round platform, a crew of two or more, and a way to get it home. Yurta 21 fits into a standard pickup truck, or it can be shipped to a local depot where you can collect the yurt. We supply the floor plans.
How It Goes Up
- Prepare a level, round platform, using the floor plans that come with every Yurta.
- With a crew of at least two, join the partly assembled white ash frame with its tension cable. That takes about 90 minutes, with no nails, screws or brackets.
- Fit the wool felt, if you ordered it, then the outer covers.
- Secure the yurt to the platform.
Once your platform is ready, full setup of the yurt itself takes two people 4 to 6 hours. You’ll need a stepladder, an awl and a power drill. The owner’s manual takes you through each step, and we’re a phone call, video call or text away if you get stuck.
Getting It Home
- Pickup is free from our workshop near Oshawa, Ontario. Your large luxury yurt fits in a pickup truck, and we’ll help you load it.
- Shipping goes to a depot, not to your home. The crates need a loading dock and equipment to unload, so we ship to a freight depot or commercial dock near you. We ship across Canada, to the US and internationally and will quote your shipping and crating costs before you finalize your order.
- The yurt weighs 1,200 lb (about 545 kg) and ships in two crates. One measures 52 × 20 × 52 in (132 × 51 × 132 cm), the other 125 × 47 × 41 in (318 × 119 × 104 cm).

Need a Big Yurt? Why We Stop at 21 Feet
Yurta makes two sizes, and each one is designed for its scale. Going from 17 to 21 feet significantly increases the weight, the setup time and the scale of the resulting infrastructure. If you’re after a big yurt, 21 feet is as big as we go. Far beyond that size, we think a conventional building becomes a practical consideration over a tent. We’re glad to talk through the nuances with you.
Yurta 21 Questions
Email info@yurta.ca, or call 1-877-807-5008 (toll-free) or 905-831-0418.
How much does a Yurta 21 high-performance yurt cost?
The Yurta 21 starts at $22,000 CAD. With the $7,500 insulation package, it’s $29,500 if you pick it up, or $30,600 crated for shipping, plus freight. Taxes are extra, and the Price and Options section above lists every option.
Can I use the Yurta 21 in winter?
Yes. Every Yurta 21 is a 4-season yurt, with or without insulation, proven under three feet of snow and in 100+ km/h winds. For warmth, add the wool felt insulation package and a stove or another heat source. With both, it still heats effectively at −30°C and colder.
Can you live in a Yurta 21 full time?
You decide. The Yurta 21 is designed for semi-permanent living. Whether it can be your full-time yurt home depends on many factors, though many of our clients do live in their 21’ yurts year-round. Check your local municipal bylaws to understand the legalities of full-time living where you are.
Does the Yurta 21 have a bathroom, water and electricity?
The Yurta 21 has no built-in bathroom. Getting water inside the yurt is the easy part, usually through the floor, and power can be even easier. Bringing them to your site takes the same planning as for any site, so your own experts handle that part, and we’re happy to talk it through with you.
How long does a Yurta 21 take to set up, and how many people do I need?
Two people set up a Yurta 21 in 4 to 6 hours once the platform is ready. The frame alone takes about 90 minutes and needs at least two. Bring a stepladder, an awl and a power drill.
How long does it take to make a Yurta 21?
Estimated production of a Yurta 21 takes about 6 to 8 weeks from order confirmation. Timing shifts through the year and can run longer because availability is strictly limited, so call 1-877-807-5008 for the current wait before you order.
Can the Yurta 21 be shipped to my home?
Usually, no. The Yurta 21 crates are too large for home delivery, so we ship to a freight depot or commercial dock near you. We do limited hand deliveries in Ontario and western Québec, or you can pick it up free at our shop.
Do I need a building permit for a Yurta 21?
Permit rules for a Yurta 21 vary by municipality. Some classify a Yurta as a temporary structure, but full-time living is often treated differently. Read our take on permits, and always check your local municipal bylaws.
What should I look for in a large yurt?
Check the frame wood species, how the frame is joined, the insulation and whether the cover breathes. On the Yurta 21, that’s knot-free hardwood white ash, a tension cable, zero nails or screws or zip-ties, 100% wool felt with a radiant backing, and a breathable cover.
Can I see a Yurta 21 before I buy?
Yes. You can see a Yurta 21 at our site near Almonte, Ontario, by appointment. We can sometimes arrange visits with willing clients nearby. Call 1-877-807-5008 to set up a visit.
